Assistant Technical Director: Timberlake Playhouse | May 2007-August 2007

Having served the previous season as Master Carpenter, being asked to return to Timberlake and to take on more responsibility certainly did a good deal to bolster my confidence in pursuing technical production.

As the name suggests, this position really was all about making sure that the design and/or engineering decisions made by the Technical Director were effectively, efficiently, and safely carried out. Sometimes that meant running the shop, sometimes it meant supervising paint or load in crews.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with the Creation/interpretation of design renderings and plan construction/fabrication/load-in of all scenic elements

  • Manage crews of 5-20 workers during builds, load-ins, and strikes

  • Assist with maintenance of the theatre facility including tools and equipment
